WHY CLEANING IS IMPORTANT
CLEANING THE OIL BURNER AND GAS BURNER FLUE
According to the National Fire Protection Agency, oil burner flues should be cleaned and inspected annually and gas burner flues should be cleaned and inspected once every year and a half to two years. The cleaning involves disconnecting the vent pipe from the burner and sweeping the oil flue with a wire brush. It is then vacuumed out from the bottom. When this is complete, we will provide a 20 Point Fire Safety Inspection. The cleaning of the oil burner flue helps prevent blockages which would result in a puff back or chimney fire. It also increases the efficiency of the burner up to 33%.
CLEANING THE FIREPLACE FLUE
The cleaning of the fireplace flue involves sweeping out the chimney using the spin brush. We also check for a buildup of creosote, which is flammable and accumulates in fireplace chimneys. Standard cleaning removes the first layer of creosote buildup and is a Stage 1 cleaning.
We Clean Your Chimney with the Spin Brush!
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN YOUR CHIMNEY CLEANING?
We use a rotary chimney cleaning system. The Spin Brush is a spinning chimney whip that removes soot and creosote build-up using small plastic lines (whips) attached to flexible rods that are fed up from the base of the chimney. The Spin Brush is powered by a standard drill attached to the rods and can rotate in both directions.
THE DANGER OF CARBON MONOXIDE
Carbon Monoxide is colorless and odorless and can kill a person in minutes. It is the cause of over 500 deaths a year in the United States alone. Carbon Monoxide backdrafting is caused by blockages in the chimney flu or liner that can lead to CO fumes re-entering your house rather than venting through your chimney. It is recommended that at the beginning of every heating season, you have a trained professional inspect your fireplace to check for carbon monoxide backdrafting.
Our detailed backdrafting test is performed by measuring the amount of carbon monoxide backdrafting into the residence at the connection between the smoke pipe and the furnace flu. This is performed by a certified technician who is specifically trained in air quality testing.

Protect your Home from Water, Mildew, Mold and Other Damage
REASONS YOU NEED TO PROTECT YOUR GUTTER SYSTEM
Protect your Home from Water, Mildew, Mold and Other Damage.
The average 1500 sq ft roof sheds 1000 gallons for every inch of rain so your gutter systems needs to be able to handle a lot of water. Keep gutters clean and flowing, it is smart to hire a professional rather than doing it yourself on a ladder which can be dangerous and lead to serious injury.
Protect your Exterior Paint, Siding and Foundation from Costly Deterioration.
Debris accumulate in gutter and destroy pitch, meaning the water does not flow ‘downhill’ to the downspout. Compare gutter maintenance to car maintenance — if you maintain your gutters, your home will last longer, as your car will if you change the oil often.
A Failure to Maintain your Gutter System Can Result in a Flooded Basement, Leaking Roof, Cracked Foundation, Rotted Wood Trim and More.
To go along with good gutter maintenance, make sure your foundation is properly sloped away from the house – you don’t need standing water near your foundation. Aluminum gutters can be expected to last 20 – 30 years, depending on proper maintenance. Copper lasts 50 years with good maintenance. Galvanized steel lasts 20 years or less – depending on maintenance. Accumulated Debris (usually leaves and twigs) in Gutter is a Fire Hazard and also a Breeding Ground for Mold. Avoid damaging your gutters, don’t lean ladder against gutter. Be aware of ice accumulation; birds and other animals/insects, clogged and overflowing gutters, and storm and tree damage.
